The homeland of the Roca brothers has once against played host to Fòrum Gastronòmic which this year, in its seventh edition, was a success in terms of both attendance and content.
A place for meeting and recognition
This conference brings together chefs from all over the region, not just from the Girona area, to present their ideas and new discoveries. Some of the chefs who gave talks were Nandu Jubany (Can Jubany), Josep Roca (El Celler de Can Roca), Miguel Ángel de la Cruz (La Botica) and Jordi Cruz (ÀBAC), amongst others. The three day event also served to celebrate one of the first meetings of the new “Women in Gastronomy” movement, the protagonists of which are: Iolanda Bustos (La Calèndula), Lucía Freitas (A tofona), María José San Román (Monsatrell), Maria Solivellas (Ca na Toneta), Begoña Rodrigo (Salita) and Jennise Ferrari (Qué Leche).
During Fòrum Gastronòmic the “Josep Mercader” awards were handed out to acknowledge the careers of chefs, wine experts, restaurant managers, producers and disseminators of culture. The winners were Montserrat Fontané, mother of the Roca brothers, Isidre Gironès (Ca l’Isidre) as restaurant manager, Carme Ferrer in the wine category, Martí Terés (oli Flumen) in the product category and finally Eliane Thibaut Comelade in the culture category.
The Girona-Barcelona-A Coruña triangle
Fòrum Gastronòmic is already a consolidated event that has been held for years on an itinerant basis between Girona, Barcelona and A Coruña (Galicia). The next edition will take place in the Galician capital in March 2019 and in Barcelona a year from now.
