2017 restaurant OAD list lista llista liste 2

On the 15th of May, Opinionated About Dining (OAD), the collaborative list compiled based on diners’ experiences, published its list of the more than 100 best restaurants of Europe which joins the lists already published for the United States, the “Classical & Heritage”, Asia’s and United States “Gourmet Casual”.

According to OAD, the best restaurant in Europe is L’Arpège, however, on the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, it’s in 12th position. At the same time, the 2nd best restaurant according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants is the Osteria Francescana, which OAD has in 10th position, after other European restaurants like Schloss Schauenstein, Fäviken and Azurmendi; numbers 72, 57 and 38 respectively on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.

In the United States, the restaurant that received the most points was The Willow Inn (progressive American cuisine). However, number one on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Eleven Madison Park, is in 8th position. Also worth mentioning is another list that has been created, “Gourmet Casual”, which lists more informal restaurants with good food.

As for Asia, previously the OAD only offered a ranking of the best restaurants in Japan. This year, however, it has expanded its list and now includes more of the Asian continent’s countries. Kaiseki cuisine stands out as the most common style of cuisine amongst the top positions but this is understandable as Kaiseki is the term used to describe Haute Cuisine.

Of the restaurants offering classic cuisine, Hôtel de Ville – B. Violier tops the list with its French contemporary cuisine. In fact, almost all the top 10 restaurants offer French cuisine (classic, contemporary or fusion) except the restaurant Ibai in the Basque Country which offers Grilled cuisine.
